Ljudingrepp
i offentlig miljö och föreställningen Conveyer
Under sommaren och hösten 2007 arbetade Ann Rosén och
Sten-Olof Hellström
som artists-in residence på Interactive Institute. Tillsammans
genomförde de ett antal ”ljudingrepp” med hjälp
av en portabel ljudinstallation som de
placerade på olika platser i Kista och Sätra. Idén
var att studera hur ljudet påverkade miljön och framför
allt hur det påverkade de människor som rörde sig
där. Installationerna och människorna dokumenterades och
Rosén och Hellström bjöd även in koreograferna
Ingo Reulecke, Moa Hanssen och Maija Hirvanen att studera myllret
av människor.
Dokumentationen ligger sedan till grund
för föreställningen Conveyer som uruppförs på
Weld den 9 februari 2008 som en del av festivalen node.stockholm.
Ann Rosén och Sten-Olof Hellström har i flera arbeten
undersökt vad ljud egentligen är och hur vi upplever ljud.
De arbetar därmed i en tydlig tradition där undersökningen
är både en utgångspunkt och en metod och där
ljudet problematiseras som både ett fysiskt och perceptuellt
fenomen.
I sina tidigare arbeten har de bl a arbetat med tystnaden genom
att låta ljud ta bort varandra, med att bygga upp olika ”arkitektoniska
rum” enbart med hjälp av ljuden och med olika typer av
interaktion mellan betraktare och ljudinstallation.
I Conveyer finns en väsentlig skillnad på hur mötet
mellan människa och ljud har sett ut jämfört med
de tidigare projekten. Här har Rosen och Hellström sökt
sig till platser där massor av människor rör sig
dagligen och exponerat
dem för olika ljud. Situationen blir därför mycket
olik de galleriinstallationer som de annars arbetat med där
publiken varit mer insatt i och förberedd på situationen.
Därmed är det inte sagt att de enbart söker en autenticitet
eller att de skapar någon form av en klinisk forskningssituation.
Hur olika människor reagerar verkar snarast resultera i snabba
skisser på platser som sedan bearbetas, organiseras, omformeras
och sätts ihop till något helt annat men förmodligen
ändå möjligt att känna igen.

Sound Inserts
During the summer and autumn of 2007 Ann Rosén
and Sten-Olof Hellström worked as artists-in-residence at the
Interactive Institute. Together they carried out a number of “sound-inserts”
with the help of a portable sound installation that they placed
at different locations in Kista and Sätra. The idea was to
study how the sound affected the environment and above all people
passing by.
The installation and by passers where documented and Rosén
and Hellström also invited the choreographers Ingo Reulecke,
Moa Hanssen and Maija Hirvanen as observers to study the swarm of
people. Their studies form the foundation for the performance Conveyer
that is premiered at Weld February 9 as a part of the festival node.stockholm.
Ann Rosén and Sten-Olof Hellström have in several works
explored what sound really is and how we perceive it. They are thereby
working in an explicit tradition where the exploration is both a
starting point and a method and sound is problematised as a physical
as well as a perceptual phenomenon. In previous work they have among
other things worked with silence by letting sounds negate each other,
with building architectonic spaces only using sound and with different
types of interaction between spectators and the sound installation.
In Conveyer there is an essential difference in how the meeting
between people and sound takes place compared to the previous projects.
Here Rosén and Hellström looked for places with masses
of people passing on a daily basis where they exposed people for
different types of sound. The situation therefore became very different
from the gallery installations they otherwise work with where the
audience is somewhat more informed and prepared. This does not by
any means imply that they are only looking for authenticity or trying
to create a clinical research situation. Rather it seems that the
reactions of different people results in quick sketches of places
that then are reworked and transformed into something probably still
recognisable yet completely different.

Conveyer - dance performance and
Interactive Installation at Weld, Norrtullsgatan 7, 7pm.
Conveyer is an perfromace spinning off from the project "Ljudingrepp
i offentlig miljö". During the autumn 2007 a number of
sound actions takes place in public places of different functions,
such as entrances, corridors and squares. The project is a study
on how we move under the influence from sound. What happens when
the sound environment is changed? Will our movement and behaviour
change according to the sound? The studies has been made in the
Elektrum building in Kista, outdoors in Kista and in Sätra
centre with choreographers as observers and interpretators.

Moa Hansson, Maija Hirvanen.
The project is a collaboration between ADRA - art driven research
association, Interactive Institute and Weld.
